Nebraska health centers get enrollment funds

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The federal government has awarded nearly $700,000 to six Nebraska health centers to help people with health care enrollment.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the grants Wednesday. About $150 million is being awarded nationwide.

The funding coming to Nebraska will allow the centers to hire 13 additional people with an expectation that they will help about 23,000 people enroll into health coverage.

The centers are charged with helping people understand their coverage options under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. Those include getting an insurance plan on the new health exchange or enrolling in Medicaid.

Under the health care law, states must have a health exchange, with enrollment starting Oct. 1 and coverage on Jan. 1.

UFC 162?s Three Stars: Chris Weidman, Mark Munoz and Edson Barboza stood out

UFC 162 will stick out in the collective MMA brain as the night the UFC got a new middleweight champion. Who truly rose above?

No. 1 star -- Chris Weidman: As if there's any doubt who stood out the most at UFC 162? Weidman took advantage of Silva clowning around to win the belt. Weidman used knowledge of his opponent and his tendency to play around in a fight to catch Silva right on the button and knock him out. He earned a $50,000 bonus for Knockout of the Night, and the middleweight championship.

No. 2 star -- Mark Munoz: Before he even stepped in the cage, he battled with depression and a major weight gain. Beating Tim Boetsch was just the logical next step. Munoz used wrestling and continuous unanswered striking to get an overwhelming win.

No. 3 star -- Edson Barboza: MMA judge Cecil Peoples once famously claimed "leg kicks certainly don't finish fights." Barboza laughs at that statement. He whipped Rafaello Oliveira's legs again and again until he could stand no more. This is the second time Barboza won a fight this way, making him the first UFC fighter to do that.

Who were your stars from UFC 162? Speak up on Twitter and Facebook.

Murray wins Wimbledon, beats Djokovic in 3 sets

(AP) ? From the lawns of Wimbledon to the lochs of Scotland, all of Britain can celebrate.

Andy Murray made it possible Sunday, winning his country's hallowed tennis tournament to become the first British man in 77 years to raise the trophy at the All England Club.

Yes, this was history, and Murray's 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 victory over top-seeded Novak Djokovic was a fitting close to nearly eight decades of British frustration in its own backyard: A straight-setter, yes, but a hard-fought, 3-hour, 9-minute affair filled with long, punishing rallies and a final game that may have felt like another 77 years, with Murray squandering three match points before finally putting it away after four deuces.

Certainly, the endgame must have felt like torture to the 15,000 watching on Centre Court, the thousands more watching on a big-screen TV on the grounds and, of course, the millions of British watching on TV.

"Imagine playing it," Murray said.

On a cloudless, 80-degree day on Centre Court, Murray put his name beside that of Fred Perry, the last British man to win Wimbledon, back in 1936.

Those words don't have to be written again.

The second-seeded Murray beat the best in Djokovic, a six-time Grand Slam winner known for both a mental and physical fitness built to handle what he faced Sunday: A crowd full of overheated partisans rooting against him, to say nothing of Murray himself.

"The atmosphere was incredible for him. For me, not so much, but this is what I expected," Djokovic said.

Since falling to Roger Federer in the final last year, Murray had shed some baggage by winning the Olympic gold medal on Centre Court, then following that with his first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open.

The loss in last year's Wimbledon final "was one of the toughest moments in my career, so to manage to win this tournament today," Murray said, letting the thought trail off.

When he finally wrapped it up, he let his racket fall to the turf, took his hat off and pumped his fist toward the crowd. Later, he climbed to the guest box where his girlfriend, Kim Sears, and his coach, Ivan Lendl, were among those sweating this out.

Born a week apart in May 1987 ? Djokovic in Belgrade when it was part of Yugoslavia, and Murray in Glasgow, Scotland ? these top two players are building the best tennis rivalry of the 2010s. This was their third meeting in the last four Grand Slam finals and all have been riveting affairs.

Djokovic went up a break in both the second and third sets and, both times, appeared to have grabbed at least a bit of control and quieted a crowd that included Prime Minister David Cameron.

But Murray dug out of both holes. In the second set, he set up break point with a sharply angled forehand that Djokovic couldn't handle, and the Serb responded with a double-fault, one of four on the day.

In the third set, Murray lost four straight games to fall behind 4-2, but got the break back and ? eventually ? closed it out by winning the last four games.

Trailing 5-4 in the third, Djokovic rushed out to the court after the break ? a man who seemingly wanted to get it over with. Murray quickly went ahead 40-0 and it looked to be all but over. But the next few minutes felt like forever. Djokovic saved the first three championship points, then had three break opportunities of his own. Couldn't convert any. Then, finally, Murray put it away when Djokovic put a backhand in the net. A few minutes later, the 26-year-old Murray was kissing the trophy.

"I don't know how I managed to come through that final game, it was unbelievable, three match points," Murray said. "I'm just so glad to finally do it."

Djokovic came into the match on the heels of a 4-hour, 43-minute semifinal victory over Juan Martin del Potro in similarly parched conditions.

"It took a lot out of me but I cannot look for excuses in the match two days ago," Djokovic said. "It went five hours and five sets but I've been in these situations before. I felt OK."

Indeed, he rarely wears out, but Murray and the linesmen succeeded in puncturing his typically calm demeanor.

Murray's withering groundstrokes and his patience from behind the line helped him take the first set. Then slowly, Djokovic shifted his strategy, mixing in drop shots with frequent trips to the net ? neither of which are considered his specialty. He won 30 of 52 trips to the net, compared to 26 for 37 for his opponent.

"I lost crucial points at the net," Djokovic said. "You don't get many opportunities against him."

Djokovic also finished with 31 winners against 40 unforced errors ? an uncommonly bad ratio for the world's top-ranked player ? compared to 36 winners and 21 unforced errors by Murray.

Meanwhile, Djokovic found himself in an ongoing dialogue with chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani, as a number of close calls went against him. Djokovic had used up all three of his second-set challenges by the middle of the eighth game. At the end of that game, after another close call on the baseline went against him, Djokovic raised his hands toward the heavens, showing another trace of frustration that rarely hits him.

The crash landing of a large airliner at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, officials said. The Asiana Airlines flight out of Seoul, South Korea, had its fuselage burned away, the entire tail gone and one engine apparently broken off in the crash.

VUDU update brings support for select Android smartphones

The VUDU Movies and TV app has recently been updated for Android users and it looks like it has brought support for smartphones. Well, support for select smartphones. There was also mention of unspecified bugs being taken care of. Getting back to the smartphone support and we find a support list that is heaviest on Samsung and HTC devices.

vudu

There are also a few from LG and Motorola as well. That being said, the full list if supported devices is as follows;

  • Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II
  • Samsung Galaxy S II HD, Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4
  • HTC One, EVO 4G LTE and DROID DNA
  • Motorola RAZR HD
  • LG Optimus G, G Pro and F7
  • Nexus 4

Otherwise, this update has brought the app up to version 1.4.229 and it can currently be found by way of the Google Play Store. Aside from support for those smartphones and the bug fixes, there appears to be some remaining issues with the VUDU app in general.

This latest changelog notes a known issue as being one dealing with storage migration.

?There is no storage migration so the earlier version upgrade may have issue with download when external storage exists. The solution is to remove the app and reinstall.?

Other known issues are listed as the app being slow when there is not enough network bandwidth and the app occasionally hanging. VUDU has yet to offer any timeline as to when these known issues will be taken care of, however it is nice to see them being acknowledged.

A bit for those not familiar with how VUDU works. This service allows the user to buy or rent movies that can be streamed or downloaded directly to your Android device. Given the option to buy or rent ? there isn?t any set monthly subscription to worry about. In addition to movies, VUDU also offers television shows as well as an In-Home Disc to Digital service that will let you convert a DVD or Blu-ray movie to digital for streaming.

Garmin DC 50 dog collar promises better satellite reception, longer battery life

Garmin DC 50 dog collar promises better satellite reception, longer battery life

Your dog can run, but it can't hide from Garmin's latest dog tracking collar. The DC 50 ups the game for the GPS company's satellite-friendly canine wearables, offering a more rugged, waterproof (up to 10 meters) design and improved battery life at 26 hours with the five-second update and up to 54 hours with two-minute update. There's also a Dog Rescue mode to automatically switch the collar to the latter when the charge gets down to 25 percent -- so you'll still get signal should you lose your pooch at the end of the day. And, to make him easier to find, the DC 50 promises more reliable satellite reception, thanks to the antenna's placement at the top of the collar and its utilization of both GLONASS and GPS nav systems. When paired with Garmin's Astro 320, users can track a pack of up to ten pups at once should you have the money to outfit them all with DC 50's. The collar will be available later this month for $230, or $600 if you buy it bundled with the aforementioned Astro 320.
