Zeaxanthin may have side effects and is one of two major carotenoids (plants make this and animals can?t) that are found in the eye. The second carotenoid is lutein which is nearly identical to zeaxanthin except that it has three chiral centers whereas zeaxanthin has two. If something is chiral it means that it?s identical like your two hands.
If you do any type of research on the side effects of this molecule you would be hard pressed to find any, which is a good thing. But there are actually a few if you take a supplement form, starting with stomach pains. Overdosing which is anything over 2mg?s a day for an individual. Other side effect that may happen is head pains and an unusual taste in someone?s mouth.
Since it?s not easy to find the side effects of zeaxanthin that probably means that it doesn?t occur that often which means there are a lot of rewards for little risk. Sort of like a 95% chance that you would at least double your money in an investment. Sounds good right? Well it gets better when I go over all the benefits you can get.
